This new route is an alternative (called buffer zone), we get to Santa Teresa and then move on to Machu Picchu.
This tour departs from Mollepata and is becoming very popular among tourists. This route offers everything you may have a conventional path trekking, stunning views of the chains of the Andes Mountains, waterfalls, flora, fauna, and last but not least, one of the wonders of the world - Machu Picchu. |

Day 1 : Cusco - Soraypampa
We left early at 5 am Cusco by private bus, will travel for a period of 3 hours drive to Mollepata.
In Mollepata take our breakfast prepare our gear and our horses with the team (horses can carry 6kg per person).
We begin our trek to Cruz Pata where we will see the Apurimac River Canyon (the deepest in Peru). Here we have our first lunch.
Then we continue our journey towards Soraypampa where we will found a gorgeous view of Mount of Humantay (5902m.snm). Then we continue our trek up to 4 hours to reach our camp in Soraypampa (3900m.snm) where we can see the snowy magic of Apu Salkantay (6271m.snm), while the sun sets, be prepared for a cold night camping.

Day 2 : Soraypampa - Collpapampa
The call will be at 5:30 am, and then take our breakfast at 6 am and continue with our journey, ascending to the most demanding part Apachetas (4590m.snm).
After the breathtaking view of the snowy mountains of Salkantay (6264m) (second highest peak in the Cusco region) and Huayanay Humantay mountains, rivers, small lakes and moraines.
After 5 hours of walking in the morning, after lunch we will have between 2-3 hours walk downhill to the field Chaullay (2920m.snm).

Day 3 : Collpapampa - Santa Teresa
Early morning start with an easy 3 hours walk to Uscamayuc, where we will enter a high forest niche called "Ceja de Selva. "
A good time to take photos of the beautiful flora and fauna (including crops of bananas and coca trees) and waterfalls.
Lunch is at Wiñaypocco, we will continue our journey to our last campsite in La Playa (2400m.snm).
To your surprise, a small village with electricity and stores is located here.

Day 4 : La Playa - Aguas calientes
At 07:00 A.M. have breakfast and begin our trip to Santa Teresa via bus.
From this point we will walk along the Urubamba River and observe the lush vegetation and stunning views of the valley of Santa Teresa.
We continue our journey for 4 hours to get to Machu Picchu hydroelectric plant (2,700 masl). From here, the walk is smooth, for lunch enjoy some free time to relax with a snack, and take pictures.
In the afternoon we will take the train to Aguas Calientes (2000 masl), will be 45 minutes away, and thegroup will be placed in their respective hotels for the night and have dinner.

Day 5 : Aguas calientes - Machupicchu - Cusco
Finally, at 7:30 am we will take a bus to the Inca city of Machu Picchu.
Visit the citadel with all the explanations and suggestions from your guide, this tour will be for two hours, then free time to enjoy the Inca city and its environs, and for a better view you can climb to Wayna Picchu where we will have a breathtaking view of the site.
This climb takes at least two hours and please also note that only 400 people a day have access to this visit, so do not wait until the end of the day to decide!
Afternoon to return to Aguas Calientes where, if you wish, you can visit the hot springs before taking the train back to Cusco (return to Cusco around 9pm).
